Am I eligible for the PREP program?

 

You are eligible for the PREP program if you:

  • have bachelor’s degree in a biomedically-relevant science from an accredited college or university awarded no more than 36 months prior to applying
  • are a US citizen or permanent resident.
  • are a member of a group underrepresented in biomedical research as defined by the NIH/National Institute of General Medical Sciences: (a) individuals from underrepresented racial or ethnic groups, i.e., African American, Latinx, Native American, Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander; (b) have a documented disability; or (c) come from a disadvantaged background.   • can demonstrate your intention to pursue doctoral study in the biomedical sciences, i.e., a PhD, or MD/PhD degree.
How long is the program? 

 

PREP is intended to be a 1-year program. After starting the program in August, students will apply to graduate school in the fall.  Therefore, PREP scholars will most likely be accepted to a graduate program by the following year.
